Core Beliefs
The Baha'i religion has 10 foundational beliefs that are the basis of their religion:
The Baha'i believe that all people are brothers and sisters under one God. This belief is very similar to most other monothiestic religions that trace their orgins back to the Middle East. They believe in universal equality, as in men and women, of all races are equal under the eyes of God. According to them, acting on any prejudice grounds can only result in "destructive behavior" which must be absent in ones mind for one to spiritually progress in life. Also to become closer with God, one must look inward at himself, a practice known as "introspection" where one must look at one's entire self without preconceptions and judge one's self accordingly. Something that sets this religion apart from other monotheistic Middle Eastern religions is their acceptance of science and believe that it is in fact in harmony with religion. The Bahai believe that they can support each other rather than contradict one another. Family is essential and that a healthly family is the foundation for a good relationship with God. They believe in a single God. In addition to that, they believe that all monotheistic religions are worshipping the same god, no matter there differences, and are therefore all able to obtain salvation. They believe that world peace is necessary and that universal cooperation must happen in order for it to happen. (2)
